EU ESG Ratings Regulation Resources

The ESG Ratings Regulation (Regulation (EU) 2024/3005) was published in the Official Journal on 12 December 2024 and started to apply from 2 July 2026. 

ESG rating providers that were providing their services on 2 January 2025 must notify ESMA of their intention to continue operating in the EU and must register for authorisation by 2 November 2026.

Delegated Regulations supplementing the ERR

The following Delegated Regulations supplementing the ERR have now been published and apply retroactively from 2 July 2026 to align with the date of application of the ERR.

Guidelines and statements

  • On 29 April 2026, ESMA launched a consultation on draft guidelines of its proposed approach for the endorsement of ESG ratings developed outside of the EU. The consultation closed on 29 May 2026. Read our earlier blog post for more.
