EU Forced Labour Regulation: Key dates

European Commission must publish its package of guidance and tools, comprising implementation guidelines, a forced labour risk database, the Forced Labour Single Portal, and SME support measures.

European Commission published its implementation guidelines, addressed to competent authorities (on practical implementation), economic operators (on compliance with the general prohibition), and civil society organisations, victims and other stakeholders (on how to submit substantiated concerns).

Deadline for EU Member States to notify the Commission of their rules on penalties for economic operators that fail to comply with an infringement decision. The penalties must be “effective, proportionate and dissuasive”.

Main compliance deadline: FLR's main provisions start applying and economic operators must comply with the prohibition on placing on, making available on, or exporting from the EU market products made with forced labour. 

The Single Information Submission Point also becomes available from this date.
