On 25 July 2022, the long-awaited final version of the Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) under the Sustainable Finance Disclosure Regulation (SFDR) and its Annexes were published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU).
Unsurprisingly, the published document, which is now available in the various languages of the European Union, does not contain any substantive changes to the final draft adopted by the European Commission on 6 April 2022 (see our previous blog post).
The RTS will enter into force on 14 August 2022 and then will apply from 1 January 2023.
However, the RTS are still far from being settled. The European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) have until September 2022 to submit their proposal to the European Commission in relation to the alignment of the SFDR RTS with the Taxonomy Complementary Delegated Act which covers nuclear and natural gas activities and was published in the OJEU on 15 July 2022 (see our previous blog post). A second set of amendments should also be submitted in April 2023 in relation to principal adverse impacts indicators and transparency of financial products’ disclosures (see our previous blog post on these future amendments).
Please get in touch with us if you would like to discuss any of the above in more detail.
