The decision on Tuesday from the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia vacating a rule former President Trump enacted in 2016 to support the coal industry is a welcome and early win for the new Biden Administration, and a timely prelude to the Executive Orders signed by President Biden on Wednesday to rejoin the Paris Accord and revoke the licence for the Keystone XL pipeline.
But, with an evenly split Senate and a narrower majority in the House than expected, President Biden will have to carefully pick his environmental battles to avoid getting bogged down by partisanship and the local demands placed on members of Congress to find that the solid ground he's hit running turns into a bog!
