Are you lobbying for change - or not?

The 2021 AGM season globally promises to be an interesting one as institutional investor groups increasingly make it clear to investee companies what they expect to see and understand on how corporates engage strategically with the net zero agenda (including on the practices of regulatory affairs functions).

Institutional investors with a combined $6.5 trillion in AUM have issued “urgent” demands to 47 of the largest US-based corporate greenhouse gas (GHG) emitters to disclose their climate lobbying practices. Companies receiving a letter to “remind” them to disclose their lobbying practices in line with the existing Investor Expectations on Corporate Climate Lobbying span high-emitting sectors and include Berkshire Hathaway, ExxonMobil, Ford Motor Company, Lockheed Martin, PepsiCo, Southern Copper, and Walmart.
